Meet Victor Wilson, Toolmaker & Die-Cast Mould Maker
Victor Wilson has been an integral part of PPi’s Toolroom for 10 ½ years. His precision and expertise when it comes to Toolmaking ensures our tools are always repaired and making the best parts they can.
Before PPi
Long before joining us, Victor ran several toolrooms and die-casting departments, honing the multitude of skills that he brings to PPi today.
Lifelong Precision
At just 25, Victor was entrusted with running an entire toolroom, which he still counts as his proudest professional moment. These days, what fires him up is the same thing that’s always driven him: solving problems. Give Victor a tricky tolerance or a stubborn tool problem and he’s in his element.
Outside the Toolroom
- Master of the Greens: After six decades of practice, Victor finally heard the magic words, ‘You look like a golfer!’ , instead of looking like someone trying to play golf.
- Reel Relaxation: When not in the Toolroom, you’ll find him casting a line for a quiet afternoon’s fishing.
- Book, Word & Number Wizard: Crosswords , reading books and sudoku keep Victor’s mind as sharp as his cutting tools.
- Trail Trekker & Globe-Trotter: A good walk or travelling somewhere new are also things that Victor loves to do outside the toolroom.
Colleague Kudos
Ask anyone to describe Victor’s work ethic and three words pop up every time: careful, methodical, tidy. Pair that with the friendliness he loves about PPi’s culture and you’ve got a teammate who’s as easy to work with as he is thorough.
Some Fun Facts
Victor very nearly became the oldest contestant on Big Brother at 58. Not only that, he also worked at Matchbox cars when he was younger.
When it comes to meeting new people, his preferred ice-breaker is trusty “Are you local?” , which really gets the conversation flowing.
Looking Ahead
If he weren’t working his magic in the Toolroom, Victor admits he’d be playing golf full-time and probably perfecting that golfing look he’s waited 60 years to earn. Until then, PPi’s tooling is in safe hands
